KRIEGSMARINE M40 Q64 RARE HELMET

DESCRIPTION
Well here's a rare mid war Kriegsmarine helmet that even advanced collectors would love to own as they rarely see the light of day especially with near perfect decals.

Here is an original M40 Q64 mid war German example with a rear lot number DN142 placing the original factory production date to the summer of 1941 according to Brian Ice's lot data book. The KM eagle is the earlier ET version that Quist was using along with EF before having their own unique design. Notice the golden metallic luster as opposed to just a tea toning effect you see with regular Heer eagle decals. The KM ET eagle is textbook and factory applied to fulfill a requisition request made by the Kriegsmarine who often found themselves at the end of the line in terms of priority compared to all other branches of service. This is part of the reason that the KM helmets are so hard to find as the German navy was quite limited throughout the war and so was rarely given priority resulting in very few being made.

I should also point out that of the 4 makers of KM helmets ET, EF, SE and Q that Quist was the rarest of all makers with ET being the most common making this helmet that much more special.

This helmet comes with it's original liner system and 3 untouched split pins having only ever being folded over once. The original chinstrap is still in tact but shortened by the original soldier important to streamline especially on a tight battleship where space is at a premium.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
