DESCRIPTION
This helmet came from a vintage helmet collection out of River Falls, WI.
A beautiful example of a pre-war SSH-36 Russian helmet complete with it's original canvass bowl liner and tanned cotton chinstrap. Since these components are permanently riveted into place at the Soviet factory we know they are original and untouched since the end of the war.
Great to see one of these helmets in it's original dark olive green Soviet paint (Commie Green) matching both inside and outside. No evidence of a red star ever being present which matches up nicely to historical photos where most Russian's while in battle did not actually have any red star painted onto the front.
This helmet came in 4 sizes ranging from 1 through 4 and this is a large size 3 as indicated by the rear skirt factory stampings.
A great example for a collector who would like to round out his display shelves with a few examples from the other side.
