DESCRIPTION
Here is one of those Holy Grail helmets that every collector wishes they had on their personal shelves but one which would lead to an almost instant divorce from the wife as the they start at $15k and only go up from there.
This is a masterfully done restoration using an original MINT M35 early war shell rear lot stamped 3051. The early lot number and gothic font of the ET66 makes this helmet rarer than later war helmets as it first left the factory sometime is early 1937 according to Brian Ice's lot data book.
The paint is hardened enamel and a dark smooth pea green RAL code 6003 to be exact with an aged patina both inside and out. The SS decal is white metallic and a classic C.A. Pocher style with a matching textbook ET party shield on the opposite side. The inside liner system is on a aluminum outer band with square chinstrap bales and a matching aluminum buckle chinstrap.
Mint M35 shells especially in large size 66 are very difficult to come by these days and this one was actually pulled from storage as there just aren't that many out there these days to restore.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear. The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters. The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
