M35 NS66 DD HEER (Restored)

DESCRIPTION
This is one of my latest restorations on an ORIGINAL mint M35 NS66 shell. A new aging technique I've been able to employ now allows me to create a natural patina on smooth apple green enamel paint closely mimicking originals out of my own private collection.

Both decals are textbook to the NS factory and the rear lot number D18 suggests the original production year of late 1938 according to Brian Ice's lot data book. Both decals were muted down a little so as to not shine such bright in silver or bright in white. This effect reflects the natural aging that decals undergo over time as the lacquer resin begins to darken and oxidize.

Please note that original and mint M35 shells in large sizes 66 or 68 are now very difficult to come by and so are demanding a premium on the open collector marketplace. Right now everyone and their grandmother wants an M35 or M40 shell in a size 66 or 68 as most I suspect are already in private collections or are being used by movie production companies and historical re-enactors.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
