M38 CKL68 LATE WAR PARATROOPER HELMET

DESCRIPTION
This helmet is an M38 CKL68 rear marked 4054 later war example from 1943-44 when the single Luftwaffe eagle was no longer being applied across all branches of service excluding polizei and SS who kept their decals going till the very end of the war. Many of these were camo painted during the war or caged up with chicken wire or some other form of netting. This example however is a true survivor in that I doubt it saw much front line combat action and is pretty much exactly how it would have first appeared when it left the factory floor back in late 1943 according to it's rear lot number of 4054 as noted in Brian Ice's lot data book.

What's so great about this particular helmet is not only that it is an untouched survivor from 1943 but that it also retains it's original goat skin liner system and chinstrap harness just as it was initially issued.

Near mint WW2 German M38 paratrooper helmets are exceeding difficult to find it today's marketplace and very highly sought after. Prices of these have been going up and up over the years as most have ended up in private collections never to be seen or heard from again.

Here is only one of a only a few currently floating around and still available for purchase.

$6500

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
