M35 ET68 WAFFEN-SS DD (Miltec Reproduction)

DESCRIPTION
Well here's a helmet I never thought I would have up on the site preferring instead to only restore original WW2 German shells but here it is a little something especially for those newer collectors out there on a budget. I recall wanting a German helmet myself for many years in the my 20's and early 30's but never being able to afford the real deal until I had all of my student loans paid off. This is a reproduction M35 ET68 helmet shell and liner that I professionally restored to try and create an interesting holy grail Waffen-SS double decal helmet reminiscent of those found on the heads of elite units entering Poland in 1939 and then France in 1940.

The SS decals are made right here in house by myself personally and so they are rather unique and not at all on the open marketplace. The SS decal is white metallic like the inside of an oyster shell which is a difficult effect to achieve but is just like the originals. The party shield is your C A Pocher version and has the correct slightly thinner and more elegant font swastika and matches known originals out of my own personal collection. The paint is smooth enamel pea green or RAL 6003 olivgrun - olive green just like the originals and so this is the exact color that was used by the Wehrmacht pre-40.

The helmet is based on an original ET68 stamped shell and was originally created by Thomas Strum Rottenburg, known today as Sturm Miltec and why it is stamped "TSR 68". These helmets were made in a few small batches back in the 1990's are a quite tough to find today making the shell itself somewhat of a limited commodity. The liner system is nicely marked 61 stamped on one of the leather liner fingers and was further pressed down via steam and pressure to create this authentic bowl shaped appearance simulating real war time use and wear. A genuine example would run well into the thousands. A real nice shelf Queen and very affordable for entry level collectors.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
