DESCRIPTION
This SS 8 Year Long Service Medal is a textbook original example. It’s made of a die struck brass alloy (Tombak), with a bronze wash. Nearly all of the original surface finish is still present, with only very light wear from handling, and extremely slight age patination. It’s a nice strike, that retains all of the original detail. All of the details one expects to see on these scarce medals are present, including the teardrop-shaped suspension loop and the distinctive ridge on the ring that the suspension loop passes through. This SS 8 Year Long Service Medal is complete with its correct, original cornflower blue ribbon, which is full length. The ribbon is nice and clean, with no fraying or damage. These SS service medals are very desirable and not easy to find. This one is in a strong excellent condition.

- The twelve-year service award was in the shape of the swastika, had a silver finish and was awarded to all Officers, NCOs and enlisted men.[8]
- The twenty-five-year service award was in the shape of the swastika, had a gold finish and was awarded to all Officers, NCOs and enlisted men.
