ORIGINAL WW2 GERMAN K98 43FFC BAYONET + FROG

DESCRIPTION
A mint bayonet marked 43 ffc indicating production by Friedrich Herder Abr.Sohn, Solingen. The bayonet is in excellent condition and appears unblued and unsharpened exactly how it left the factory.  A very nice late war bayonet with very nice red brown bakelite grips.

The frog is original to the bayonet made of cowhide leather and is reversed marked RBN 1/0390/0115 and was mostly likely a US vet field capture.  I feel safe to conclude this based on the fact that it retains a US WW2 metal belt retainer loop at the end of the frog and I doubt it was the German soldier himself who did that.  Interestingly enough the frog itself is made of leather however the handguard retaining strap is actually made from pigskin.

This bayonet was purchased a few months ago from the California estate of a longtime collector.  I will be listing the rest of his collection all next week under the same username. Mainly it will consist of WW2 German field equipment as many of the other items aren't really allowed on the eBay platform.
