WW1 M16 TJ66 WW1 FACTORY PAINT NAMED

DESCRIPTION
This helmet is a right as rain and came back from a US vet from WW1 in 1918 according to the family's recollections. This is an M16 stamped TJ66 with it's original factory dark pea green enamel paint both inside and outside.

TJ refers to C. Thiel & Sohne in Lübeck, Germany, a recognized manufacturer of German helmets primarily during World War I. They produced M16 and M17 steel helmet shells, often stamped with "TJ" along with the size (e.g., TJ66 or TJ68) on the inner rim. These are considered a scarcer manufacturer compared to others

The chinstrap is not original and is an aged reproduction added to complete the piece.

A very interesting highlight of this helmet is that at the back skirt the original German solider engraved his name and date in what must have been a pocket knife the following words: "Lichtenberger 15, 6, 1917" which must refer to his last name and date June 15, 1917.
