M35 Q66 COMBAT POLIZEI DD (Restored)

DESCRIPTION
This helmet was a custom order for a customer over in the UK who had always wanted to purchase a genuine double decal early war polizei helmet but just couldn't justify the budget for trying to obtain an all original example. Even as a collector myself I find original paratrooper helmets and Waffen-SS helmets to be in another orbit in terms of current world wide pricing and tough to warrant unless you are swimming in cash. This is part of the joy I receive from making these otherwise out of reach helmets a reality for my my fellow avid collectors.

Here is one such example, a genuine M35 Q66 (Quist) helmet rear lot number 2904 professionally restored into a double decal combat polizei helmet. The helmet has the correct dark apple green smooth enamel paint and Quist factory polizei decals tea toned to and lacquer sealed in place. The inside liner is stamped 59 and is a large enough size that it will fit most men's heads of today. The chinstrap features an aluminum slender style buckle is stamped Franz Brehme 1938. A factory quality inspection stamp was also added to the inside dome.

Very cool looking lid and if you're into German helmets a great conversation piece for discussion among other helmet collectors.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used mainly as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made. A little bit of research and knowledge will pay dividends as you move ahead on your collecting journey.)
