M40 SE62 LW SD HELMET IN CRUDE WIRE CAMO

DESCRIPTION
This is a mid war produced M40 SE62 1491 marked helmet produced for the Luftwaffe in late 1940 according to Brian Ice's lot data book. The helmet has all of it's original paint both inside and outside with a textbook factory applied ET eagle never altered or changed since the end of the war. The wire is a simple front and back configuration and appears very old and has oxidized brown over time. I am not a wire expert and there is always mixed opinions on these and so please use the photos and make your own judgment.

The inside liner is 100% original to the helmet and is mostly in tact but a little bit worn out over time. One interesting feature of this helmet is that the original German soldier's name is written on the back skirt and still clearly visible "ULMER" as best I can make out.

I can add in a reproduction chinstrap with the correct year stamping for an additional $25 if one so chooses.

$650

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
