DESCRIPTION
This is a rock solid mint all original M35 ET66 shell that was professionally restored as a Waffen-SS double decal helmet one of the holy grails among WW2 collectors.
The SS decal is white metallic and the textbook factory ET design with the black shield borders walls running a bit thicker than other makers. The red party shield is also your textbook factory ET version and so everything is extremely accurate historically speaking with this prime example.
In general there is somewhat of a worldwide shortage on M35 shells and especially in the larger 66 or 68 sizes making this helmet very desirable not only among collectors but also historical re-enactors like myself as it fits most modern men's heads of today!
The inside liner system is made with an aluminum outer band and square shaped chinstrap bales just as the originals would appears as well as having an aluminum buckle chinstrap dated to 1938 to complete the piece.
The base layer of paint is a dark pea green enamel paint sprayed on smooth both inside and outside just like they would have done at the Eisenwerkes factory in the city of Thale at the start of the war.
The helmet was professionally aged to create an iconic pre-war Waffen-SS helmet when the organization was still relatively young and under equipped not yet prioritized for being mainly a political body

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear. The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters. The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
