DESCRIPTION
This helmet came in acquired from a military show many years ago but a seasoned collector looking to thin out some of his display shelves. This helmet is a late war no decal CKL64 helmet with a rear lot number of 4726 placing the original production date sometime in late 1943 according to Brian Ice's lot data book.
This helmet being so late in the war was never given a decal at the factory and was issued in this dark slate gray lightly textured paint finish with a smooth enamel finish on the inside. The outside rope camo net was added post war on the original WW2 factory issued paint. This rope can be kept as it is or gently removed with a sharp pair of scissors to expose the entirety of the helmet's exterior if one so chooses. I for one really like the overall combat look of this lid made ready for any young German solider to start adding some concealing foliage as soon as he hits the front lines.
The inside liner is a post war aged leather and was added to complete the piece and is marked size 56 on one of fingers.
A real thing of beauty to show off of one of your display shelves.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear. The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters. The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
