HEER M40 Q66 CHICKEN WIRE CAMO (Restored)

DESCRIPTION
This helmet was inspired from original footage I watched on YouTube whereby a kompanie of German Panzergrenadiers lying in wait for the eventual Allied invasion were using sheets of tightly woven chicken wire camo they acquired in the French countryside. Some of the men even had rubber foillage bands while others did not. The shell I restored was a MINT M40 Q66 (Quist large size 66) rear lot number 257 which will fit most men's heads of today and is great for reenactors. The liner a size 59 is soft supple calfskin leather and this helmet is basically good to go.

The outside paint is textured feld grau while the inside is the same paint but in a smooth enamel finish. The Heer eagle is the Bigfoot design with the larger talons and angry looking beak in a metallic silver just like the originals.

A real one would run in the $2800-$3200 range.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
