DESCRIPTION
This helmet represents a tribute to one of those Holy Grail finds; an uber rare M18 ear cut out helmet that was also used by the Waffen-SS during their run up to prominence in the early 1930's. This particular helmet is high level reproduction and one of the best I have seen to date in that the lower oval semi circle beneath the air vents has the correct shape and doesn't run too deep as we see with low level reproductions. The outside paint is dark olive green RAL code 6003 (olivgrun) which was the color used for leading combat troops as opposed to ceremonial guards.
Both SS decals were applied then lightly aged and are of the correct textbook ET design. The SS decal in particular was copied from an example in my own personal collection and has a white metallic oyster shell luster finish to it just like we see in the originals. The inside leather is your typical transitional inter-war period white tanned leather which is this color due to the fact that vegetable tannins were replaced by heartier chromium tanning chemicals leading to a white color instead of a brown tone.
A real shelf Queen and something that will make your collector buddies take a second look most definitely!!!
