This is one of my latest inspirations a Deutschland Afrika Korps sourced in a Tunisian flea market and found perfectly preserved in a shifting sand dune by a sunbaked Bedouin camel herder. This is at least the made up fantasy scenario I made up in my head one night while drunk on dark Cuban rum. The base I used was a MINT M40 NS62 shell rear lot 7260 that I repainted using RAL8000 paint which is exactly the color the Germans used. I then added a touch of pink to reflect the shades of colors found in the Tunisian desert as well as vast parts of Algeria. This is because the sand in this particular part of Africa is actually broken down red coral reefs from millions of years ago that existed deep in the southern Mediterranean.
The liner was professionally aged and the helmet's original outer liner band was used in it's reconstruction so maintain as much authenticity and historical accuracy as possible. An accurate repro. chinstrap was added to complete the piece and is dated 1941,
The eagle is your C.A. Pocher eagle which was the eagle used by the NS factory in Schwerte, Germany. The eagle is white metallic like the inside of an oyster shell and then a tropical resin added overtop which has oxidized over time until this nice tea tone hue was achieved. The eagle is an inhouse creation I made up from high resolution scans of an original face up NS eagle I have in my personal collection and so the details achieved cannot be disputed.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear. The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters. The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
