DESCRIPTION
Here is a wonderful example of a mid-war single decal textured Luftwaffe helmet with original matching split pins for newer collectors or those on a budget. The shell came from a family in the US but no direct vet provenance can be ascertained. It's a one looker however and no doubt 100% original both inside and out. The Luftwaffe eagle is a textbook ET style which many Quist M40 shells exhibit. There appears to have been a lot of cross over at the factory level between ET decals and Quist decals with ET seeming to be much more readily available and therefore used just as often as the Quist version even on Quist shells. The adler/eagle is in great condition and about 95%+ still present as is the inside and outside textured paint. The rear lot number of DN127 suggests a production date of mid 1942. Unfortunately the helmet came to me without any liner or split pins however luckily I happened to have an original set of LW split pins and to my amazement the paint matched up perfectly and so I'm including them in with this helmet. Reproduction liners can be found in the $50 range online or just wait for an original liner to come your way at some point down the road.

Normally I only sell helmets which are fully completed however in this case I wanted to offer something a little more basic for the newer collector or collector whose wife has him on a strict budget.

GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES
(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
