This helmet is your classic mid war every fighting man's helmet a rock solid M40 ET64 with a gritty sand textured original finish. The helmet originally came out of an old private collection from Texas and was only missing it's leather liner. I went ahead and professionally installed a nicely aged reproduction leather to match the outside paint to complete the piece. All 3 split pins have never been touched nor has the outer liner band. I performed a spring on spring transfer to keep the helmet as original as possible. Any type of camo finish usually commands a premium on other dealer websites but I'm somewhat of a smaller entity and so I am generally selling at a discount to those bigger guys.

The outside paint was was clearly brushed on by hand using some type of sand or crude grit mixed into it for greater concealment and less reflectivity from sunlight. One nice feature of this helmet is that we can still see the original factory applied ET decal eagle neatly peaking out from beneath the crude over paint.

A real one looker camo helmet and priced very reasonably!!!

(Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.  The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters.  The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.)
